ANCIENT MEDICINE
ANCIENT GREEK MEDICINE:
Greek doctors turned the corner from a reliance on divine intervention for healing to practical, natural solutions and some of their theories continue to impact present scientific and medical thinking.
Ancient egyptian medicine:
Ancient Egyptians were known to use honey as medicine, and the juices of pomegranates served as both an astringent and a delicacy. Egyptians had some knowledge of human anatomy. For example, in the classic mummification process, mummifiers knew how to insert a long hooked implement through a nostril, breaking the thin bone of the braincase and removing thebrain.
ANCIENT QUARANTINE:
In antiquity the hebrews invented the quarantine process for those people who had a contagious disease and could not be cured and if after this the disease was still there the person had to continue 7 days more but if was no longer sick he could leave.
Although there is little record to establish when plants were first used for medicinal purposes, the use of plants as healing agents, as well as clays and soils is ancient. Over time, through emulation of the behavior of fauna, a medicinal knowledge base developed and passed between generations. Even earlier, Neanderthals may have engaged in medical practices. As tribal culture specialized specific castes, and apothecaries fulfilled the role of healer.
